Unlike most of Niebling’s oval doilies, this one is knitted in one piece, that is, there are no extensions added at opposite sides of the center. Also, if the center is worked in two separate halves and then joined where the first center leaves end, it might make a nice poncho, or sleeves could be added at the sides extending from the second set of leaves! ;-)

Someone asked for a translation of the text of this pattern, but when I went to copy the original text, I realized how much my recharting habits have changed since 2006! The alignment of stitches in my original rechart was exactly the same as the source publication. However, therein the stitches are aligned to resemble the shape of the finished cloth rather than how the pattern is actually knit, so… I reformatted it, added stitch counts and written instructions. However, I couldn’t figure out where to include the above photo, sorry, Marie! I will include it in the Gallery that is still a work in progress.
